We are a small team from Essex racing in the British Truck Racing Association Championship across many of the great circuits around the country.
Team Dark Horse was formed in 2005 by driver Ian Gypps and despite a few knocks has grown steadily to date, With seven new team members and a handful of supporting sponsors, the team hopes to be back racing in 2011 .we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the team members both past and present for their involvement, regrettably this year saw us lose Paul Eve to form his car racing team "Evolution racing" and we all wish him every success in the Dmn series, we would also like to welcome new head mechanic Lee Gutteridge who joined us in late 2009 and has took the team forward in leaps and bounds, we hope he will be with us for the for seeable future and thank him and indeed all the team for all their patience and hard work and all they do for TDH
During 2009/2010 TDH forged a link with help for heroes and the truck carried the distinctive H for H livery in a TV appearance on blue peter in 2009 , further to this Ian has involved himself with fund raising alongside this, a recent music festival raising over 5k for the cause.
2011 see,s the truck undergoing radical changes and further involvement from Spt and soon to be announced a number of other sponsors who we are at present in negotiations with, watch this space for regular up dates

doing for almost 20 Ian, who has done a few seasons of bangor racing is a flirt
with track days in his old XR4i (yes he’s that old) was lured into the thrills of truck
racing and has never looked back!He lists some of his hobbies as fishing, DJ,
music and…. yep Truck Racing!
Lee Gutteridge - Team Mechanic
Lee is the lead mechanic with our main sponsor Steve Prince Transport. Lee
lives with his Fiancé Charlie and their jack Russell puppy. His interests include
trucks from 1/10th scale through to the full size beasts and he recently restored
a US Freightliner and has put in a fair few hours in the new refurbished Team
Scania.
Mum Gypps - Teams Mum
‘Mum’ Gypps, age “Not telling” is our Team Mum.
Among other things, she lovingly prepares a range of food for all of us, makes
sure Ian doesn’t forget anything, irons the race wear and even puts us put up
for the night. A truly valued member of the team.
Sorry mum did have a picture without Ian’s ugly mug in it!
Graham Marshall - Team Leader
Graham Marshall (aged 21 (ish)) is a Project Manager in the space technology
field.
Although Graham, as he puts it, is ”just a desk jocky” he has for a time held an
HGV licence and has been a keen supporter of truck racing for many years.
Jonathan Marshall
Jonathan (age 12) who currently attends Amman Valley School in Ammanford,
South Wales has had a keen interest in all things vehicular since the age of 18
months.
He is currently studying hard towards his current goal of “some kind of
engineering career”. Jonathan has been at every meeting helping out where he
can and lending his support.
Paul Eve
Paul Eve, age 37 is currently working in trailer sales.
Paul has been involved in banger racing for years, though not for so much at the
moment. Having served his apprenticeship as a PCV mechanic, Paul will be a
valuable addition to the mechanical side of the team.
Paul is the epitome of the “Essex boy” and proud of it!
Neil Moses
Neil “The Oracle” Moses, age 37 is now a bonafide truck driver, having passed
his test late last year.
Neil has followed truck racing since 1986 and is known throughout the team as
the oracle because what he doesn’t know about the history of truck racing isn’t
worth knowing.
Supporting Help For Heros
We are pleased to announce that we are supporting the Help for Heroes
charity and hope to be raising awareness and money for the charity at all
of the events we attend.
This is from the “Help for Heroes” website:
Help for Heroes raises money to support members of the Armed Forces
who have been wounded in the service of their country. We ask our
supporters to “do their bit” to show these extraordinary young men and
women that they are cared for by us.
Over a million people have responded to date and millions of pounds
have been raised to buy much needed services that will aid their recovery
, but we need more!
So far, we have allocated almost all of the money we have raised in order
to fund direct projects and support other service charities. We are
passionate about what we are doing and as far as we are concerned the
sooner we can see results, the better!
Long-term injuries need long-term solutions. Going
forward, Help for Heroes aims to supplement the
available facilities and care so that those in rehabilitation
get the very best facilities and treatment in order to recover
from their injuries and rebuild their careers.
Hadyn Parry, Chairman.
